- Percentage of branched hydrocarbons is reduced.
- Percentage of long chain hydrocarbons is increased. These are ideal for combustion.
- 2,6,10,14 tetramethylheptadecane is reduced.
- 2,3,6–trimethylnaphthalene is reduced.
- The cetane index is also increased.
The results reported here have been observed at different times in different experimental procedures. Some of the procedures involved whole diesel fuel and some involved single or model compounds only.
The Fitch Fuel Catalyst reduces the number of highly oxidized molecules. This assists the cetane rating of the diesel fuel and assists the engine extract more power from a gallon of diesel fuel. Methylated naphthalene and highly branched alkanes such as 2,6,10,14 tetramethylheptadecane that give high particulate value in diesel exhaust and a greater carcinogenic character to diesel exhaust are reduced.
